Apparently our bandwidth usage has gone up since January, which is when Amy and I both got our Xbox 360’s. Our landlady seems to think that our Live accounts are the reason for this spike (more than double what we were using from September to December). We’ve agreed to stay signed out of Xbox Live when we aren’t actually playing online and monitor our usage closely.
HOWEVER, we googled that shit immediately, because Amy’s boyfriend said our usage shouldn’t be that much and when I researched Xbox’s before I bought mine, nothing like this came up. Popular opinion on the net says that about 7 hours of online playing uses 5GBs. If this is true, we should not be using nearly 100% of our 175GB/month every single month.
I sent an email to Xbox.com/support to see if they could shed some light on the situation. It’s just super frustrating and I don’t understand and if it isn’t us, obviously I don’t want our landlady thinking it is.
Is it bad that I really hope it’s some kind of virus on someone’s computer? Or that someone has hacked into our wifi?
